Deepavali greeting and a peek in my small garden

Firstly... a very Happy Deepavali to all who are celebrating this auspicious festival of light! Also a Happy Holiday to the rest who are enjoying this public holiday!

Secondly, here's a look into my small garden. I'm happy and proud of my babies though much effort had been put in so that they look marvellous! All thanks to the masters in Malaysia Gardeners Facebook group! Oh yes, learnt many tips especially in reviving my plants and now hoping for more blooms. Also added a small edible section which I'm so proud of *grinning widely*

My edible section is on the right, on the rack
My semi-shade area plus seedlings
I definitely would not have a flourishing garden if not for all the tips I've learnt. Joining this group has been a real blessing and inadvertently got poison a bit lah... i.e. the beginning of my edible section. Also, I'm in the midst of making my own organic compost! *pats on the back* It is actually very easy so my next target is to make my own Fish Amino Acid which is also as easy! Taking 1 step at a time *fingers crossed*

A healthy diet and lifestyle from now onwards

I am slowly learning and embracing a healthy lifestyle albeit a treacherous and difficult journey. Especially since hub's has hypertension, which ran in his side of the family, so the need to control and manage it is important.

Malaysian food, although delicious and tasty, is filled with lots of oil, salt, sugar, MSG and a whole bunch more unhealthy stuff. We have to eat healthily, observing the labels more especially when we buy packed food.

As I cook during weekends, now I have to learn to cook differently, using more herbs and natural ingredients for a more healthy balance diet. I've also learnt more about edible plants that I can grow via the various Facebook group channels which is really helpful.

For example, instead of using salt to taste, I've substituted it with basil and mixed herbs when I cooked this 'ABC Soup' :-)
Certainly tastier with fresh basil from my garden
My first herb: Basil
I also found this on Pinterest, which looked helpful
So from this day forth, a new resolution to live and eat healthily. Also, I am going to practice the KonMari Method of de-cluttering for a minimalist, welcoming and comfortable home so fingers crossed! I'll definitely share and post my journey here so for those who are interested can read and pick up a tip or 2!

Day date with le hubs: KL Butterfly Park

From Taman Orkid, we headed to the Butterfly Park next which was nearby... ticket was RM10 per adult. It was definitely cooler and had much more better blooms with so many butterflies and moths flying around! Unfortunately we noticed quite a number of dead butterflies too, not sure if it was due to a bird which must have accidentally came into the aviary. Totally loved the park with so many beauties flying around freely.

Hubs was practically proud a butterfly stopped by on his cap!

It was an eye-opener for me as I've not been to a butterfly park before, will definitely bring Angels here during the long school holidays *fingers crossed*

By 6pm, we were tired, famish and dry... LOL! I guess we are not getting younger! Time for dinner... in the next, final post!

Day date with le hubs: Taman Orkid

It is a rare occasion where hubs off day coincides with my public holiday so it was definitely a blessing 3 Monday's ago. We decided to head out to the free parks in KL! LOL! Beware: this is a photo-blog! Hence I've decided to split it into 3 posts - Taman Orkid, KL Butterfly Park and Tao Cuisine.

After lunch, our first stop was Taman Orkid aka Orchid Park which was free. I guess we were too early i.e. 1-ish as it was scorching hot! Of all time, I forgot to apply sunblock that day too =.= Anyway, there were many beautiful blooms although some was dry and wilting but I've only captured the nice ones so enjoy!

Photographer in action LOL!
