Mary Kay beauty class with Adrianne

A good friend recently decided to venture into the beauty business and she was enthusiastic to practice her demo with us. Though it started off a little rough, I was totally sold in the end!

It's a basic beauty class for Mary Kay products. I've totally enjoyed the session and I'm actually in awe with my own skin at the end of the class LOL!!! Honestly, it did feels plumped up and soft to the touch like those beauty advertisements where the skin feels 'toing toing' :-)

Meet our beauty consultant, Adrianne
Me, goofing around while waiting :-p
Joyce, our hostess
A glowing me, after the session!
Azreen too!!!

While waiting for the LRT, with natural lighting, I've never seen my skin glow so nicely! I'm truly intrigued but have to wait lah as...

1. I do still have at least a year stock of beauty products so have to finish it first
2. The range is not cheap so most likely having to buy it 1 by 1 lah

So have to be patient now before achieving flawless skin especially freckles free!!!

If you are interested, you can send me an email and I'll pass your contacts to Adrianne ya...

MPOV: Tony Moly I'm Real Aloe Mask Sheet

I seldom do review on beauty products as I'd rather not take a selfie especially since I always looked awkward LOL! I guess lots of practice makes it perfect then! Anyway, I've recently gotten some Korean Tony Moly I'm Real masks from my sister so I thought of blogging about it :-)

I've started off with this Aloe Mask Sheet Moisturizing:

Lately, I've noticed my skin tends to feel dry and even flaky. I know one main factor is the constant use of air-con due to the hot and humid weather lately. Also, the lack of H2O and juice but lets not dwell on that.

This mask, though I did not chill it, was really cooling to use and very soothing on my skin. I did not feel any irritation and it was so comfortable that I've overshot the 20 mins timing! Also, there's no yucky perfumery, in fact there's no smell, so I didn't feel giddy. The result, a supple and moisturised skin :-)
Please ignore my sad face... never a natural with selfie LOL!
Easy to apply on and to remove it, I am loving this mask already. I still have another few more to try before I decided to hunt for some good masks. I am not getting any younger so I definitely need all the loving masks to spoil, I mean replenish, my skin with LOL!

MPOV: Gossip Nails & Waxing

I have not gone for a pedicure in ages. Well, I thought why the need to splurge unnecessary when there's no function. So I'm still sticking to my frugal goal with the exception of festivity and the likes of Chinese New Year :-)

Found this subtle shop in Jaya Shopping Centre, located at 4th floor next to Buku Fixi. It was early hence the quiet Sunday morning which I liked.
It may just be a small den with 2 seaters and a bed but the pedicurist was efficient. She was truly gentle with my feet and it was a comfortable experience. Even the massage was soothing! I forgot to mention about my 'thin' skin but I did not incur any injury nor any bleeding! Yahoo! It is definitely a blessing as most shops don't get it right and usually kinda rough with the clippers thus resulted in cuts and bleeding. Also some pedicurists used their 'cow strength' during massage which caused discomfort and pain hence a phobic experience for me. So this girl is in my good book for sure!

However, like most nail salons, the equipments were not sterilized and no change of towels so I guess the trend has evolved to this. I do wished such hygiene practice was maintained as it is a PLUS point for me, I'm sure it is for others too.

Anyway, this is definitely a blessing as it was a pleasant experience for me overall! I've also took a leap of faith and chose RED! I've never painted my nails red before, maroon yes but never red red LOL! So this is a first for me...
OPI colour: Coca-Cola Red
Pedicure is RM45 and I'm loving it! A worthwhile CNY treat for myself!

MPOV: A.S. Allen Hair Salon

I recently had a hair cut at my dear old friends' hair salon. I've been frequenting their salon since I was in secondary school and their shop was in SS15 Subang Jaya then! After they had shifted to Summit Mall, I've tried various hair salons but with disappointing results. Honestly, no hairdresser can style and tame my hair!

I have very fine and frizzy hair. I always tie it up as it is unmanageable and stubborn LOL! Well, most hairdressers will cut according to their knowledge of layering by their book and my hair will ended up looking more frizzy.

Unlike Allen and Sally. They know how to 'read' my hair curls, yes I do have natural curly ends, and layered it skillfully. In the end, I have a perfect, lightweight, layered haircut! I only cut my hair twice a year so... honestly, it may cost me, actually hubs, RM64 with wash and blow but it's totally worth every penny! Others may be cheaper but the quality and end result sucks so you do the maths lah...

Comparison here... I seldom selfie so couldn't find a better photo to compare:
Before: frilly, unkempt, unmanageable hair
After: manageable, easily curled hair
Location: Lot F1.52 Summit City, Persiaran Kewajipan USJ 1, 47600 UEP Subang Jaya
Close on every Wednesday

MPOV: Fine Line Stoppage mask by Cellnique

The last from the Cellnique range that I have from NIL, this one was a little unpleasant. Why? Well, it felt uncomfortable and sticky. It looks promising with the theme 'sheer off crease' but I honestly felt uncomfortable.

Cropped face as I looked dreadful
End result: By the 20th minute, I quickly removed it and the residue was more sticky, quite thick. I always used the remaining residue on my neck but didn't need to use much this time due to the stickiness. Luckily, my skin felt plumpy and smooth the next morning so I guess it worked *phew! Didn't realised if my creases have disappeared though...

MPOV: Cellnique Utmost Moisture Mask

I would have thought more moisture for my skin since it's for excessive dry skin although mine was combination dry. Instant hydration and lasting moisturization were the key factors for me as too much air-con with hot and dry weather spell lately making my skin extremely dry.
End result: The mask was not fragrant so I thought of leaving it for 30 mins since it's juicy but by the 20th min, it started to feel itchy thus prompting me to remove it quickly. Thank goodness it wasn't reddish so it was just itchy. Skin did feel plumpier and soft but the effects were only for a short while, not as long lasting as I would hoped for. I was so hoping it would immerse me more! Perhaps due to the excessively dry weather thus impacting my skin too.

MPOV: Cellnique Stem Cell Revival Mask

Lately, my skin felt dry, perhaps from lack of sleep or the horrendous heat. No matter how much moisturizers I've slabbed onto it, my skin still feels dehydrated. Hada Labo is not helping here o.O Even my shoulders were peeling, like sun burnt, due to the direct heat. Partly to blame is the walk from office to car to office during lunch time, about 10 mins per way, under the scorching sun. I know I could use an umbrella. Did I mentioned the heat was horrendous? So no matter what, it still affects my skin... burning!

Thankfully I remembered the stacks of mask niece in law had given me previously, nicely cooling in the fridge. So now I get to test it out 1 by 1.
Chose this because it's an obvious choice... STEM CELL! Also the key active ingredients looked promising:
Apple stem cell
Coenzyme Q10
Hyaluronic acid (HA)
Lightly fragrant, juicy mask and easy to use. Skin felt comfortable and well-rested while I was watching The Mentalist. Honestly felt like my skin was rejuvenated after 20 mins!

End result: my skin felt plumpy, smooth and soft. No extra sensation nor reddish except feeling alive. Highly recommended if you feel tired... just like the slogan... feel no sluggish!

MPOV: Sasatinnie gold foil tightening mask

I have a stack of masks given by NIL so thought of trying it out and giving my honest opinion, not sure if I'm doing it right as I seldom read other reviews for beauty stuffs. Started with this one, to be honest, I was attracted to the word, gold! LOL!

It was simple, easy to use like any other masks but this one is special as it can be looped over the ears to hold it. Cool right? Of course, I have cooled it in the fridge so the cooling texture made it soothing and relaxing. It wasn't scented too with some gold flecks so I guess this is the gold part lah!

End result: skin felt soft and plumpy but I do noticed my cheeks were more reddish although no other sensations felt.

MPOV: Nails Garden

While Hubby was having his hair cut, I went hunting for a pedicure shop and I found this…

Luckily, there weren’t many customers so I don’t have to wait. The girl who attended to my feet was professional and efficient. In fact, I wasn’t afraid if she might accidentally injured my feet *wink* well, due to past experience. It was a pleasant experience indeed and well worth my RM48 ^.^

Whallah! 2 days after and still looking good…

MPOV: Bellisia Esthetics & Wellness Therapy

I have not gone for facials in ages! Well, mainly because I live quite far from the main attractions now. My skin has since deteriorate, if you remember my rambling here, with home care alone is never enough! As I frequent Tropicana City Mall often, Hubby advised me to give this shop a try.

I actually felt intimidated when I first went into the shop. Furthermore, I didn’t make any appointment but thankfully there was a vacant spot and it was a Saturday, mind you. The lady owner was friendly enough, explaining the products and analysing my skin condition, then ushered me to sit down and filled up a questionnaire card. Once the beautician was ready, she ushered me into a small room to change my top and keep my stuff in a locker before leading me to the facial room.
Before she started, the beautician analysed and recommended the type of facial which was suitable for me. She had recommended Brightening Skin Renewer with Hydratante Ampoule for my dull and dry skin.
From double cleansing to steam, exfoliating then extraction, pressure point massage to toner + ampoule + mask. I felt my skin came alive! A few notes I’ve made:
  • When it was time for extraction, I actually felt my pulse racing! LOL! Ok, well, previous experience was not pleasant therefore I was kinda worried. Thankfully, this lady was gentle and the whole extraction process was pleasant!
  • The massage was also relaxing, totally felt relieved and my shoulders finally was able to loosen up a bit.
  • I totally enjoyed it when she had applied the mask, using a machine to massage and spread it around. It was also cooling which felt invigorating.
  • The set back was that i still felt less pampered. I mean I was ushered in and out, without a simple feet bath nor a scented environment, which I was used to.
  • My beautician was kinda superior too which made me felt uncomfortable, inferior, not sure why.
Anyway, they were having a ‘Buy 1 Free 1’ promotion… my facial costs RM268, usually for 1 session but now for 2 sessions ^.^ Also adding RM48 for my ampoule. Overall, it’s a tad bit expensive since without the extra perks which I can get from other beauty parlours at a cheaper price. Even their Dermalogica products cost a bomb! I’ll stick to Clinelle for now, thank you ^.^ Hmmm… when I should quickly redeem my 2nd session though *thinking*
Thank you, Hubby, for this wonderful be-early birthday present! Lotsa love and kisses… muacks! Me after the facial…

Review: Top Passion Hair Salon

Just 2 days before CNY, I had my hair trimmed. I just walked into 1 of the hair salon in Tropicana City Mall, without looking at the signage. I usually had my hair trimmed by my SIL but since time was limited so I had no choice.

Before I knew it, I was at Top Passion Hair Salon. I opted for a Senior Stylist, Jason. He checked out my hair before trimming it, noting that it’s fine and also quite dry at the ends. He did recommend a special hair treatment which cost RM180 but I declined it as I have set my mind for a haircut and nothing else. After a few snips, Jason ushered me to the wet area for my hair wash.

I’ve missed those moments of being in a professional hair salon i.e. like this moment where 2 persons blow dry my hair at the same time. The one without specs is Jason.

The overall experience was relaxing although minus the shampoo girls and massages. I was hoping for those actually… needed a good shoulder massage. Anyway, Jason was friendly until the moment I mentioned I wanted to snap some photos to be posted on my blog. He became wary of me then =.=

My hair cut + wash + blow = RM46. According to the receptionist, it’s slightly more than the usual as it’s nearing CNY. I honestly don’t know how much it usually cost. It was worth it overall although I felt that my hair cut was kinda little… I mean it still looked the same.

My RM46 hair… I liked the fact that Jason curled the ends for me. It’s very nice of him as he suggested it ^.^

Review: Pedicure @ Bellisia

As Chinese New Year is just around the corner, I do have a to-do list to complete i.e. spring-cleaning the house, stocking up on CNY noms and of course, self-grooming... LOL! Self-grooming consisted of facial, hair-do and pedicure... ya, ya, you can call me vainpot... ain't we all are? Hmmm... including MEN, ya! Why I said this? Well, I had a pedicure appointment today at Bellisia (Btw, I've accidentaly discovered that they do offer manicure and pedicure besides facial! Hooray! I have another option now!). While waiting for my turn, a good looking man suddenly appeared from the facial section! I was taken aback as I only came for pedicure *blushing* shy lah!

Anyway, back to my pedicure, Christine attended to me. She was really cheerful and friendly as compared to her other colleague who took my appointment the other day (Her colleague had The Look - she kinda looked me down). I opted for the basic pedicure and my oh my, she was really good. My feet was totally pampered and cleansed. She suggested that I have nail art for my big toes... since CNY is coming and so I did... looked kinda weird with the bulging rose... loved the glitters though!

The basic pedicure costs RM48 and nail art for each toe was RM6. Quite reasonable and I enjoyed it.

Creative Nail Boutique

I was feeling lethargic lately so I decided to give myself a pedicure treat last Thursday. Coincidently there was a promotion for Express Spa Pedicure at Creative Nail Boutique for RM75 (normal price was RM120) so I thought of giving it a try. It’s a first for me as I have not gone for any spa pedicure before hence I was hoping my feet would be pampered to the nines!

Firstly, my feet was soaked in warm water, scrubbed with salt and then wrapped in masque.

img286

The pedicurist then started to work on my toes i.e. removing the old colour… cutting, shaping and cleaning my nails. Once done, she started to remove the masque, cleaning and washing my feet. It felt so nice, clean and smooth.

img288

She then started to apply some lotion and massage my feet. After all the pampering, she applied the nail colour and wallah! The end result… my beautiful pampered feet :-)

img290

Overall, the whole spa experience was nice except for some unskilled moments…

  • My nails were not cut accurately with some shorter than the rest. I wanted square with rounded corners but I got just square instead :-(
  • The massage was torturing! It felt like my skin was about to come off!
  • I can see that my pedicurist was an amateur… her hands were shaking non-stop and her skill has not been honed.

The atmosphere was friendly and service was good from the receptionist to the pedicurist but they are all foreigners as such their communication skills were lacking. I would have preferred her chatting with me while pampering my feet. Anyway, they have also given me a member discount card which is applicable for purchasing only, not meant for manicure/ pedicure services :-(
