[MPOV] EliteSoft Wallet power bank and Speedy data cable

All thanks to Pokemon Go, my mobile phone's battery depletes very fast so I rely on power bank a lot. It's one of those 'must have' items in my handbag LOL! As such, I prefer a reliable power bank as most in the market is not plus the life span is short.
EliteSoft Wallet 10,000 mAh Power Bank with Speedy 2.4A Cable
So here comes EliteSoft, an unknown brand to me, with a lightweight power bank which works as hard. I wasn't sure at first since it's made in China plus it is light for a 10,000 mAh! Who would have thought that this small fella is hardy and works really well, even with 2 phones charging at the same time!

It has dual output i.e. 1A and 2A, not fast charging but works equally as fast for a 10,000 mAh! Ultra slim with 25% thinner and lighter than most similar capacity power banks! Coupled it with a Speedy 2.4A data cable, my mobile phone is fully charged within a few hours! Okay, I screw up here as I forgot to time the charging but I think it usually takes 3 to 4 hours to fully charge my mobile phone.

I honestly liked this bundle a lot and it has been my constant companion in my handbag ever since I was given this set to try. So much so that I've stocked it up to sell at Nyc Nat Nook *shameless plug* Well, sharing is caring mah... you can hardly find a lightweight power bank with a leather wrapped data cable which look aesthetically neat and classy ya...

Nyc Nat Nook: Now opened!

I've been pretty busy setting up the shop as the opening date was getting nearer! The adrenaline rush was pumping high since I was so excited and can't wait to reveal the shop in it's glory! Painting the shop, furniture, decorations, stocks, etc... so much to do with so little time!

And finally....... tadaa!!!

We are now opened!!!

Since we are sub-letting a small corner, there wasn't any soft launch or grand opening. We will save that for later when we have our own shop ya! So for now, this will do!

Nyc Nat Nook offers:

  • books for rent
  • crochet gifts for sale and crochet workshop is available
  • power banks, chargers and cables for sale

Nyc Nat Nook v1.0

I have always fancy having my own books and crafts cafe, day dreaming of the facade and whatnots. However, in reality, it costs a bomb to open one! I've done my homework and it's not cheap ya especially the equipment to run a cafe.

Fortunately, opportunity comes in another form...

So here I am, finally taking this huge step with hubby, setting up a brick and mortar shop! Though not the whole shop per se, it's just a small corner nestling within an optical shop and a cafe.

A little background to this special arrangement:
Well, it was the optician's idea to have a 3-in-1 shop where it's inter-related. We have the main tenant which is the optical shop, the cafe so customers can sit, read and drink coffee while waiting for their spectacles to be ready and lastly, my shop where customers can read, rent and shop :-) Something different and unique, right?!!!

Hence, "Nyc Nat Nook" has been born! Here, we plan to have:
- books for rent with random reads from classics to modern fictions
- crafts for sale with crochet workshops for beginners would be available
- accessories for ladies and gadget for mobile phones for sale

I know it seems like a lot for a small corner but it's something we believe in. Definitely a leap of faith for us *fingers crossed*. All I can say is there's a little something for every readers, crafters and gift-hunters... all under one roof! I mean nook!!!

No need to look further ya... coming soon so stay tuned!!!

Postcrossing

I've just recently discovered Postcrossing... well, better late than never lah...

For those who didn't know, Postcrossing is a platform for sending and receiving postcards from random people around the world! The people I had to post the postcards to were randomly generated by the website itself and once they have received it will then register the postcard ID indicated. In a way like check and balance lah...

I have thus far fulfilled and posted 5 postcards... the last being posted today to Malawi. So now I'm just waiting for the first person to register my postcard ID so that I can start receiving a postcard!
The first postcard I've posted out on 21/2/2018
I do wonder when will the first postcard reached USA... the wait is killing me!!!

My GoGet experience

I have recently come across GoGet in Facebook. To be honest, I'm always curious with all the new savvy stuff, unique enough to catch my fancy thus prompting me to check this out.

GoGet is something new in Malaysia, similar to the movie Premium Rush which delivers documents, GoGetter's help to do errands and deliveries instead. Upon registering on their website, you can view the various promos available and your jobs aside from creating a specific job. It is actually easy to use and you can also install their app for a mobile convenience.

When I saw the below GoGet Facebook post, I just had to try lah. All thanks to the 'free' surprise someone gimmick LOL! After creating the job, GoGet does trigger a various job status to inform you of the delivery which was really cool! At least I do know the promo is for real LOL!
The attractive marketing tactic which caught my eye! LOL!
A surprise for hubby :-)
And then, this promo caught my eye!
Tadaa! It arrived within the specific time and it's chilled! Just need to pay Mr. Jeff RM10 for my Smooshie!

Yummy healthy Smooshie fresh juices!

Taking care of your digital camera

Taken from The Sun newspaper 6/12/10
Digital cameras get a lot of use. But with heavy use comes a greater likelihood that your camera will be damaged, lost or - if you’re travelling - even stolen.
To assure a long life for your digital camera, take these precautions against mishap and misfortune.
  • Get insurance
Digital cameras are not exactly inexpensive. Some digital SLRs (dSLRs), in fact, cost several times more than their film-based counterparts of a decade ago. That’s why taking out insurance on your digital camera can be some of the smartest money you spend on your equipment, especially if you’ve opted for a high-priced dSLR, lenses and accessories.
Camera insurance policies don’t have to be expensive. The premium – as with home, car or other kinds of insurance – will vary depending upon the value of the equipment you’re insuring.
Your best insurance policies, in fact, may come from the same company that insures your home or car. Make sure you get a no-fault policy that covers damage due to accidents as well as loss due to theft.
  • Keep lenses clean
Your camera’s lens should be kept free of dust, dirt and smudges. Otherwise you’ll end up with splotchy images at best and a camera that has difficulty focusing at worst.
Your camera or camera lens probably came with a lens cap. Use it.
To deal with the dust or smudges that will inevitably find their way to your camera’s lens – regardless of lens cap – you can take a number of approaches.
One method is to use a clean, soft brush, such as an artist’s brush, to remove simple dust.
To remove smudges, use a lens cleaning cloth and solution, which you’ll find at any photographic store. There are some specialty lens cleaning products as well that are worth looking into.
  • Sensor care
The critical light-gathering chip in a digital camera – called the sensor – can and does attract dust particles when exposed to air, which is what happens when DSLR owners change lenses.
Those dust particles show up on digital images as dark spots, potentially marring images or making them a chore to clean up in photo software afterwards.
To address the dust issue, you have to do one of two things: periodically clean the dust off the sensor yourself or send the camera to the manufacturer’s service centre to have the cleaning done professionally.
If you’re a DSLR user, you should buy a bulb blower, which is basically a hand-holdable rubber bulb that you squeeze to expel bursts of air directed at your sensor. You can find these at any photographic store or online.
If you have a compact digital camera or one of the newer DSLRs with automatic sensor cleaning, you’re in luck. You probably won’t have to worry about dust – or cleaning it.
  • Keeping it covered
Most digital cameras can be ruined by water, so you’ll want to keep yours out of the rain, unless you know the camera has ‘weather sealing’ that protects it.
Still, even with weather sealing – often available only on higher-end DSLRs – temperature extremes, especially cold weather, can cause cameras to malfunction.
The solution: a protective bag or pouch for your camera when it’s not in use. Consider a belt pack for adequate protection and maximum mobility while retaining easy access.

To berry or to droid?

Hmmm... to berry or to droid?  To port out or remain?

That is the question... my loyal i-mobile phone is going to kaput soon so need to get a new one. I didn't realized there are so many choices in the market now with superb price range!

I have been wondering, pondering, thinking... still can't decide...

Some say it depends on brand preference or the OS or the apps or what I intend to use it for...

What say you all?

Malacca: Planetarium

Hubby and I took leave last Wednesday to bring our angels for a day trip to Malacca (Apologies for the late post as I was really busy and was not well after that). We actually planned to go to Jonker Street and some historical sites but we got diverted instead. Thanks to hitz.fm, we heard that the Planetarium in Malacca was staging a fair with NASA. Yes, NASA from USA! This prompted us to go there instead since we haven’t been to a Planetarium before ^.^

The overall journey took us 1 1/2 hours, thanks to a jam-free highway. However, after the Ayer Keroh tol, we were kinda lost as we couldn’t find the Planetarium. The signage's were totally useless as it led us midway only. We nearly missed it then realized it should be nearby MITC as most government buildings were there. Thankfully we were on the right track and found the white building!

IMG_0403

In collaboration with NASA, the Melaka Planetarium was having a Space Fair 2010 from 22/11/10 to 28/11/10 10am to 6pm. The entrance fee was at a discounted rate i.e. adults RM8 only per pax, students and senior citizen RM5 only per pax. It was a very good first impression too as they were friendly and greeted us, they even had a guide to guide us around. I was totally in awe!

Our first stop was to attend a mini workshop where we learnt about the use of Spectroscope and discovered the harmfulness of Ultra Violet rays.

Through this Spectroscope, we can see the many spectrums from different light source except for the sun. We were told not to look directly at the sun with it. For more details of this Spectroscope, you can log on to http://solar-center.stanford.edu

The Ultra Violet Detecting Beads looked like any other ordinary beads but once it hits the sun light, it changes colour. Yes, it changes colour because of the UV rays from the sun. Cool right?! Once we applied some sunscreen on it, make sure it’s SPF100, it doesn’t change colour at all! It shows how important sunscreen is in our lives and it has to be SPF100 to be fully protected from the harmful UV rays.

The next stop was to watch a 3D documentary about space. Surprisingly the voice for this documentary was Whoopi Goldberg!

After the 3D documentary, we walked around the Planetarium as our guide went missing Sad smile

Telescopes, planets, gadgets, etc… it felt as though we were back in a school trip! Hubby remembered the next workshop had something to do with robots so we went hunting for it. The nice lady at the planet table took us directly to the workshop as it was quite a distance. We then realized there were 2 classes but I can’t remember the names exactly *slaps forehead* so we shall call it ‘how to make a simple rocket and the robotic experience’.

We thought it would be something great when we saw the word rocket but it turned out to be a ‘straw rocket’! Yes! Just roll a paper, tighten the tip, made the tail wings and inserted the straw in the middle! After that just blow it! Geez!

This one was totally worth it as 1 of the NASA crew was there to guide us, Mr. Paulo, who happens to be the creator of this robot which roamed on Planet Mars. The said robot here is a replica in a smaller scale which we get to simulate and move the robot from 1 end to the other. The robot itself is controlled by the computer and we need to enter the right command i.e. angle and distance to ensure it moves correctly to the end destination. We were divided into 4 teams, each team managed a robot respectively. My angels were in the green team which happened to finish this quest first! It was really fun and Tyger was totally impressed with all these robotic stuff! It made him liked Science more!

After the Planetarium, we went to Jonker Street for a very late lunch! It was nearly 4pm so it’s actually time for tea Smile with tongue out

We went for the usual chicken rice ball and iced cendol. After lunch, we walked along the street, checking out some of the shops. However, midway through we realized we lost our carrier bag! Tyger had misplaced it and we had to run all over Jonker Street looking for it! Besides bottled water and handkerchiefs, Tyger’s PSP was inside it! *Cold sweat* Thankfully the lady in a shoe shop kept it aside until we returned for it. We were so grateful for her as everything was intact… Tyger was so relieved when he saw his PSP! Phew! It’s seldom we meet such an honest person nowadays…

Thanks so much shoe lady! Sorry we forgot to note your shop’s name ^.^ Thanks again!

We left around 6pm as it was late already… we had to rush back for the special screening of Rapunzel in 3D… thanks to Churp Churp! Anyway, for those who are interested, below is the address for the Planetarium:

Melaka Planetarium, Adventure Science Centre, Kompleks MITC, Ayer Keroh, Hang Tuah Jaya, 75450 Melaka
