The Gardens Hotel: our Valentine staycation

PS: This is a throwback post to our staycation in February that I have overlooked!

We have decided to splurge on another staycation for Valentines. We've managed to book via Agoda and redeemed our cash vouchers before it expires - a good excuse to go for a staycation lah!
About The Gardens Hotel, a 5 star hotel:
Experience Kuala Lumpur city with The Gardens Hotel & Residences, located at the heart of Mid Valley City. Your stay begins with our warm Malaysian welcome, and after a restful night sleep, be greeted by the sparkling sun streaming through the large windows of your hotel room.
TBH, it was an effort looking for parking as the car park is sharing with Mid Valley Mall and other buildings within the vicinity. They do not have a specific area for hotel guests, so we had to go a few rounds before getting one. I cannot fathom if we were to arrive later, I'm sure the parking would have been full then where else can we park??? Also, there wasn't many clear signages where the entrance to the hotel was. Luckily, we saw a few security guards roaming around and they were so helpful!

When we finally checked in, we got the Hotel Wing Deluxe Double Room on the 16th floor. Overall, as the hotel looks dated, room a little rundown with some wear and tear on the walls. I've rated it 3/5. Here's a breakdown of what I've enjoyed:
I love:
- it has many plug points!
- a bathtub!
- high floor and quiet, we were on 16th floor.
- a 2 mins walk to the nearest mall.

I didn't like:
- the breakfast spread was limited from Malay, Chinese, Indian and Western.
- the parking!

Here's a snippet of the hotel room:

Amari Kuala Lumpur: our first post-pandemic staycation!

Happiness is when I managed to get through MIX FM's Game of Tones and, though I did not win the prized money, I still went home with a "2 days 1 night stay at Amari Kuala Lumpur inclusive breakfast for 2"!!! TBH, I was so looking forward to this short break from the chaos!
About Amari Kuala Lumpur, a 5 star hotel:
Located in the heart of KL Eco City – the city’s most vibrant business and entertainment district – it’s just steps from The Gardens Mall and the Mid Valley Megamall, and just 45 minutes from KLIA. It’s also directly connected to LRT and KTM commuter stations and is surrounded by international corporate offices including Mercu 2 and 3, Aspire Tower, The Gardens North Tower and South Tower, Centrepoint and Menara IGB.
After getting the voucher and decided on the date, I rang the hotel and was told to make a reservation by email. It was a pleasant experience that I have a higher expectation after that. I did highlight that I am going to celebrate hub's birthday and the nice reservation lady said she will arrange some decorations to surprise him!

When we arrived, I was blown away with all the hospitality and then the awesome room! We've gotten King Deluxe Room on the 18th floor.

Overall, as the hotel looks new, everything is so clean, neat, bright, modern and updated with great facilities. As such, I've rated it 4.5/5. Here's a breakdown of what I've enjoyed:
I love:
- it has multiple plug points and USB!
- awesome hot water shower.
- high floor and quiet, we were on 18th floor.
- a wide variety of breakfast spread from Malay, Chinese, Indian, Japanese and western dishes.
- infinity pool!
- a 10 mins walk to the nearest mall.

I didn't like:
- the only downside for us was the mattress and pillows which were a tad soft for us as we prefer firmer type.
- smaller room.
- no bathtub!
