Goodbye 2022! Hello 2023!

Image Googled from the net

It has reached that time of the year where we bid goodbye to 2022 and welcome 2023 with our open arms. I am blessed to have a smooth 2022 and hope that 2023 will be better. No New Year resolution as I seemed to always forget about it LOL! So, here's to a better, greater, healthier 2023... rid of C19 and whatever else that is bad for us!

FYI, as I slow down on blogging, I am more active on my soc-meds so you can follow my Instagram or Tik Tok for more photos or videos.

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri!

So, we are now in another lockdown, MCO 3.0, from today to 7/6/2021! I wonder if it will continue or ends on 7/6/2021. Anyway, tomorrow is Hari Raya Aidilfitri! Another festivity in the new normal where we can't celebrate with open houses hence no visitations nor travelling. It's been more than a year and yet COVID-19 is still growing earnestly whilst the actual vaccine to fully curb it has yet to be developed. Lets just pray and hope that it will eventually dissipate soon like the Spanish Flu.

Selamat Hari Raya to all my Muslim friends and family! Remember to always mask up, wash or sanitize your hands and social distancing! Maaf zahir dan batin!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Year of the Rat 2020 is definitely an unforgettable year. It will go down in history as the year filled with many unfortunate disasters, most prominently "COVID-19". This pandemic has changed the world by causing so many deaths, hospitalisations and lockdowns. We also have to practice a "New Normal" by consistently washing our hands, wearing a face mask and social distancing when we go out. In fact, if possible, we should stay at home more often than going out unnecessarily.

The good in this is we get to spend more quality time with our loved ones. This pandemic has taught us to be more vigilant with our hygiene and stay clean always. It has also taught us to value our family and our lives more. Never ever take things for granted and feeling overly entitled is a passe. Being grateful, thankful and blessed are our daily gratification now.

So to end this, here's wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year! Hope the Year of the Ox 2021 will treat us better and bless us with good health.

Happy Deepavali!!!

A very Happy Deepavali to all readers, friends and family who are celebrating this Festival of Light!

During this COVID-19 pandemic, it is crucial that you all stay safe and most importantly stay at home. Practice the basic hygiene such as wash your hands frequently. Also wear a face mask whenever you have to leave home. Try to avoid crowded spaces if possible. It is not an easy year but let us fight this pandemic together and hope that it will be eradicated before CNY 2021!!!

Again, have a safe celebration ya all!!!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all mothers out there!

As it's still partial lockdown, CMCO, this year's Mother's Day would be different in this "new normal". No big celebration, in fact better not to go out to eat as yet to be on the safe side. Best to still consume home-cooked meal which is more relevant and meaningful especially if you cooked it for her!

On the other hand, if you are staying far from your mom, you can also send gifts via delivery service or postage or buy online which are abundance in the world wide web. Just ensure your mommy wiped the gifts with alcohol wipes first ya!

Another option is handmade greeting cards! Like the one above which can be found on my site, Nyc Nat Nook. It's handmade cross-stitch attached to a greeting card template. As the greeting card is blank, it can be used for other celebration i.e. birthday, anniversary, etc. I know a little too late for Mother's Day but then better late than never right?! It is the thought that counts most! For more deets, you can click on the link here: https://nycnatnook.easy.co/

World Book Day!

So World Book Day falls on 23rd this month and not forgetting that Kuala Lumpur has been named by UNESCO as World Book Capital 2020!!! Please encourage your family, loved ones and friends to read, read, read! Just pick up a book and read, no harm done........ only adding more vocabs, knowledge or fantasy into your brain!

Just so you know, I've read 10 books in the first quarter of 2020!
Definitely hope I can achieve my goal of 30 books this year! I have been setting them at 35 for the past 2 years but somehow I can never achieved it! Always short of a few due to reading slump........ what a bummer.

If you like to dress up your e-reader when reading then you can check out Nyc Nat Nook's booksleeve! Current size available is 4" x 6" which fits any standard size e-readers:

Chap Goh Mei Special!

Finally, it has reached the last day of Chinese New Year celebration. Today is known as Chap Goh Mei or Chinese Valentine's Day. Below is a summary of what it means from Google:
Chap Goh Mei is a Hokkien term that means the 15th night of the new year, which is why it's celebrated on the 15th and final day of Chinese New Year. In Mandarin, it's called Yuan Xiao Jie (元宵节), which means Prime Night Festival.
You can also read more about it here:
https://publicholidays.com.my/chap-goh-mei/

In view that Valentine's Day is also around the corner, instead of having thrown Mandarin oranges into the sea to look for your soulmate, you can opt to gift a flower bookmark to a fellow booklover which is more environmental friendly and useful LOL!

For custom order, it'll take at least 3 days. Currently available at a very attractive introductory price. For more details or to purchase, please click on the link below:

Happy Birthday Everyone! (人日)

Just so you know, today is 'Yan Yat' (人日) which translates to 'Everyone's Birthday'. It falls on the seventh day of the lunar calendar thus everyone celebrates their day, or rather their birthday, today! It's an ancient belief where human beings were created on this auspicious day. Hence this is the reason why all Chinese restaurants are fully booked with lots of 'yee sang' sold on this particular day!

Also, I've just realized I have not shared this. As this year is the 'Year of the Rat', there is a special offer for my handmade crochet rat bookmark, while stock last! So grab it fast ya!
