Rant: Our car got scraped

I just had to get it off my chest so this might be a long rant...

Drivers nowadays don't care if they damaged other people's property. Be it a car or a house or anything, they likely will just hit and run especially if the owner isn't around.

This is what happened to us this morning, May 16, 2024. We arrived at my office around 7.30am and went for breakfast at the shops behind. We returned to our car at 8.10am, lo and behold, there're scratches at the rear tire.
The rubber part can be polished off, but the paint part is where it hurts the most. It definitely spoilt our morning. I am tempted to ask my colleague to check my office's CCTV as there is one facing where we parked but then hubby says it is pointless.

Through my years of being here, this is what I have observed. Every morning, there is this nasi lemak seller on the corner curb where lots of people will flock to tapau. The drivers, be it car or motorcycle, will park here, along these roads either in the proper parking box or haphazardly as they wished. Normally they will drive by very fast to park, go tapau and then drive away. Most of them always drive ''secara melulu'' hence we are worried whenever we parked here. So, when the stall is closed, we definitely parked with ease!!! A colleague had experienced the back of his car being hit badly and the driver quickly drove off!!! True story ya!!!

Finally, the day has come where our car got scraped this morning. Thankfully it was just scratches and not hit badly but yet the angst in us!!! All of this are avoidable if these people drive carefully! Well, they are truly ignorant, and they totally can't be bothered at all... hence the rampant road accidents these days.

To the driver who scraped our car along Jalan Maharajalela this morning, may karma hit you soonest. Amen 🙏

My Ferrari's

Cheh wah! My post's title sounded like I had a few in my garage! :-p

Anyway, I just had to gloat and show off my Lego Shell Ferrari set, without their fancy RM60 case though, too expensive lah! It was ensemble by my angels and mind you, they argued more than working like a team *slaps forehead*

So proud of the end result though ^.*
It was fun watching them ensemble it albeit the arguing and tantrums and tears! Yes, tears! That's how loggerheads they are with each other! Pity Mummy, stuck in the middle *head spinning*. Can't side either way or they will throw back 'Mummy always side with Gor gor/ Mei mei!'

Schucks! It ain't fun being sandwiched in the middle o.O

Lamborghini’s galore!

Last Friday night, I was drooling endlessly! Why? I was surprised there were so many Lamborghini’s at the main entrance of Tropicana City Mall! The engine’s were still on… gosh! The macho, strong sounds emanating were so beautiful! Yes, I am crazy over beautiful engine sounds like this… call me crazy but it makes me high!

As you can see, there’s an odd one out… a Rolls Royce… sorry only 1 photo as I’m not into antiques ^.^ Anyway, OverTime, a blooming franchise, was celebrating the opening of their new outlet there and they have invited Lin Chi Ling to officiate it. So the Rolls was to ferry her and the Lambor’s were the escorts. They also had a band ala Mardi Gras to lead the convoy from the main entrance to the outlet which was on the other side. Unfortunately, it was raining heavily. Errr… Hokkien people believed that if a person is kedekut then it will rain during their function… hmmm o.O

I didn’t attend the opening lah but I had time to spare while waiting for Hubby to finish work so I waited for Lin Chi Ling to arrive. I was curious too as I had read an article before that she was rated as the most beautiful woman in Taiwan. I wonder how true this statement was. Alas she arrived 9ish and those MEN! They ‘engorged’ her! I couldn’t squeeze through! I did catch a few glimpse of her and honestly… she was really pretty in real too… not only in photos. Her make-up was light yet she exuded youth and glowing! I rest my case!

After being pushed and shoved, this was the best I could take… sigh! So near yet so far! My paparazzi mode totally failed! I guess I have to stick to taking cars or still photos =.=

Gathering, freebies, etc…

I wonder why I bothered posting this… hmmm… I guess it struck a sad chord when I heard it…

Hubby is a member of Lancer GT Club (LGTC). The club just had their 3rd Annual Gathering somewhere in Perak over the weekend. I had given it a missed as it coincided with school holidays, same as last year. It’s also costly for all of us to attend so might as well not go. Furthermore, I’m not familiar with most of the attendees… many new members leh! One thing for sure, FAMILY is of the utmost importance! We have learnt it the hard way… the sad chord. Well, we shall not dwell over the past… let bygones be bygones.

Luckily we didn’t go too as:

1. My sis came back for the weekend and we had a good quality time catching up.

2. Besides that I also wanted to check out the ‘I love bazaar’ which had just started at TCM recently.

3. I saw something intriguing when we reached TCM on Saturday morning… so many people passing by carrying buckets of paint. I later found out that  Seamaster was giving away free paints and those desperate people had been queuing since 6am! The queue was sooo long! So typically Malaysians!

Anyway, sad chord aside, to reminiscence, we attended the first inaugural launch on 8th Nov 2008 at Tiara Beach Resort, Port Dickson as it was before the school holidays. To end this post, sharing some write-ups from the magazines of the launch:

Dream cars galore!

I was curious when Hubby mentioned that there will be some fancy cars gathering at Tropicana City Mall last Sunday afternoon. So I went around to scout for it and my, my, my… what a surprise! I didn’t asked what event they were there for as I was busy taking photos! I’ve loaded some here for your viewing pleasure ^.^

Noticed the nice photo quality? Hubby let me try the Sony HX-5V camera… I have totally fallen in love with it! So easy… point and shoot! The above photos were all taken in Auto mode… I don’t have to adjust a single button! Cool right?! I also loved the sweep panorama function… with just a click of the button and whallah! Captured the whole event with one click! For a compact digital camera, it’s totally value for $$$ Smile

Proton Inspira?

When I heard rumours of the new Proton car to be based on Mitsubishi Lancer, I just waived it off thinking that they would probably copy some and add most of their own design. How wrong I was!!! When it was revealed last week, I nearly fainted.

For those who didn’t know, this is how Mitsubishi Lancer looks like:

This is how the new car named Proton Inspira looks like:

Did you see any difference? Not much actually! They just changed the front nose, back bumper and rims! I’m not sure of the interior though as it will only be launched officially in November. It rendered me speechless…

Proton is so proud of this rebadged Mitsubishi Lancer. I totally wonder what their R&D felt inspired about when they rebadged this new car! Ok ok the be fair, this is the first batch where it will have 20% local content, the next batch would have 40% and the official batch will have 60%. Still… don’t they have their own original idea or design to make, a local car which we can feel proud of instead of feeling ashamed when we or even the foreigners could get confused with the design and model later on. I won’t be surprise if there’s a hike on the crime rate for stealing car accessories in the near future. A thought, Inspira owners might want the original Mitsubishi emblems to replace their Proton ones. Luckily Hubby had removed all his emblems to keep his car looking neat :-)

I still remember previously when we were stopped during a roadblock:

Police: Ini kereta apa? Waja? (Hinting that it’s a modified Waja i.e. Waja-lution)

Hubby: Bukan lah, ini Mitsubishi Lancer GT

Police: Betul ker? I ingat you sudah mod kereta ni (Still thinking we were lying =.=)

Anyway, sad to say there will be a drop in resale value of Mistubishi Lancer’s but the Inspira is also overpriced for a local car. So it’s up to the buyers which they prefer. One thing’s for sure, I believe they can do cosmetic changes to Inspira and mod it to look like the original Mitsubishi Lancer. More confusion later on but good news to car workshops!

Sigh!
