Alice in Wonderland

Contrary to what others had said of this movie, I actually enjoyed watching it ;-)

200px-Alice-In-Wonderland-Theatrical-PosterAlice has grown up to be a beautiful lady, waiting to be betrothed although her heart was else where. She kept dreaming of falling into a hole and landing in a magical Wonderland (Which she had conveniently forgotten now that she’s 19 years old, she last visited Underland 13 years ago!). She attended a garden party where Hamish Ascot proposed to her. Alice didn’t know what to reply, ran away instead, chasing after a rabbit in coat she had seen sneaking around. Just like her dream, she fell into a rabbit hole and landed in Wonderland where her adventure begins…

I heard a lot of comments that it’s boring and long winded. Well, this is a fantasy drama hence there will be lots of talking and less action. What do they expect? Honestly, I find it to be interesting and unique, the visuals/ animations were breathtaking. The castings were right on the dot. I especially liked Helena Bonham Carter’s Red Queen; her favourite verse ‘Off with the head!’ ;-) Johnny Depp’s Mad Hatter had over done his part a little which is so typical of him. Anne Hathaway’s White Queen looked so queer! Mia Wasikowska’s Alice Kingsleigh was so pale looking. All this imperfections and quirkiness, in my opinion, actually made the movie more interesting!

8 thumbs up out of 10
