Restoran Lorong Seratus Tahun

As some of you may know the school holidays just started recently and I have my angels with me during this short period… thanks to MIL! (Without her, our angels would not have anyone to look after in KL :p) Hence the week long absence… must totally enjoy and value the quality time mah…

Anyway, last Sunday night, we had supper at this restaurant in SS2. We found the name interesting, Lorong Seratus Tahun, but there’s no lorong or lane thus we wonder why was it called ‘Lane 100 Years’ (direct translation)… hmmm…

It offers a variety of Penang Cuisine and claims to be authentic.

It was quiet for a Sunday night. I was mildly surprised a local celebrity was there with his family and friends, I assumed. His back was facing towards us, his wild hair tied in a pony tail :-) It’s none other than Reshmonu! (Paparazzi shot failed! Malu mah!)

Back to the food, Hubby ordered Curry Koay Teow and mineral water. It was kinda diluted but still OK lah. (My Princess could be the next pro-photographer, she’s mimicking her Daddy :p)

I ordered Mee + Mee Hoon Soup and Hot Hong Kong Milk Tea (I wonder what happened to the authentic local taste?) Anyway, the soup was surprisingly tasty and delicious… no MSG here as I wasn’t thirsty after that. The portion was just nice too. However the tea was a little sweet for my liking.

My angels ordered Kaya + Butter - Toast and Bun with Ice Blended Mango and Iced Cincau. They loved it obviously!

MIL ordered Fried Rice which was a little disappointing… it was salty :-(

Overall, it was a nice experience, although not so unique as it’s similar to other kopitiams or cafes. We can’t vouched that the food tasted like the authentic Penang delicacies but we can say it’s tasty for some and OK for the others. Ambience was soothing with the dimmed lightings. Service was OK, staff was friendly although majority were foreigners (Had a little miscommunication but it was quickly sorted out) Our bill came up to RM44.50 which was quite reasonable :-) Btw, no family photos here as we were famished hence busy eating ;-)
