Logan is now a recluse
living in the woods, minding his own business and occasionally goes into town
to get some stuff. He is accompanied by a grizzly bear and still tormented by
his nightmares of Jean. One day, he came across a group of hunters in town.
Unfortunately, they were also camping in the woods nearby when Logan heard some
cries and gunshots. He went to check it out and found grizzly bear badly
wounded by a poisoned arrow, which is illegal. Grizzly begged silently for
Logan to end his life. After fulfilling grizzly’s wish, Logan set into town to
look for the hunters and found a survivor in a bar, reenacting the story. Logan
approached him and started tormenting him with the poisoned arrow. That is when
Yukio stepped in, quickly stopping Logan from killing him in the end.
Yukio has been
tracking Logan for over a year and finally able to bring him back to Master Yashida,
a soldier he had saved last time in Japan, for a final goodbye. Yashida is very
ill and wants to repay Logan for saving his life. He also has an ulterior
motive as he was not ready to die yet, in offering to end Logan’s misery by
giving his mortality back. Yashida now has a way to extract the powerful
immortality from Logan and pump it into him with Dr Green’s help. All hell
breaks loose when Yashida suddenly relapsed and died, leaving his legacy behind
for his granddaughter, Makito, whose life is in grave danger.
This definitely topped
the previous Wolverine movie, with Logan being more ‘humanely mortal’ when
Makito entered his life, slowly losing his powers to rediscovering himself and
finally letting Jean go. My ultimate moment was when Yukio drove a black
coloured convertible, soft top, Audi R8!!! I nearly swoon seeing the car racing
by!!! o.O Well, ya… back to the movie… it’s entertaining, a little unrealistic
at times but then this is a superhero movie! Totally enjoyed it, got me riled
up with all the nitty, gritty fighting scenes and the sensitivity of some
momentarily touching scenes.
PS: do wait until the
main credits are over before leaving the cinema as there is a snippet to X-men:
