MPOV: Ayam Penyet Ria

We haven't been here in ages! We have tried many others but they never seemed to measure up. I guess this is the Indonesian authenticity we want and not those 'cetak rompak' type.
Udang Penyet Set RM11.50 and Ayam Penyet Set RM11
According to the waiter, there are at least 5 different ayam penyet companies in Malaysia alone. Believe it or not, their versions are way different. In fact, some don't even 'penyet' their chicken hence the tastelessness and the not so tenderised meat. Some even had different types of sambal (chilli paste) to differentiate their uniqueness... this depends on our preferential taste buds la.

Hubs totally enjoyed his ayam penyet especially the sambal... spicy yet subtly fragrant. Meat was tender, chewy and not dry which is a huge plus! My udang penyet was delicious with a good sized portion and loved the fresh ulam! The fried critters were so tasty and thankfully not overly cooked! Overall, definitely a yummy and fulfilling dinner!

Total bill was RM27.60 inclusive of teh o panas, mineral water and 5% service charge. Not over the top especially since it's worthwhile and good. Totally satisfying with a comfortable ambiance.
