MPOV: Restoran Yap Sheng Bak Kut Teh

This new restaurant has been opened for a few months now and we finally had the urge to give it a try. Bak kut teh or literally translated as 'meat bone tea' is a famous soup dish among the non-halal community. There are many varieties from soup to dry, herbal to clear with many selections of meat and innards to choose from. Hence the booming business everywhere with many choices to suit your palates.

The menu here is simpler and yet my order was wrong. I've asked for small bones, mixed fatty and intestines for 1.5 pax BKT with 2 bowls of rice and 2 glasses of Chinese tea. However, the claypot came without intestines and small bones but a bowl of yau zar guai appeared instead. * shakes head* Mind you, it wasn't crowded so it's either my Cantonese diction was poor (which is not) or the waiter has hearing problem... sigh!

Anyway, thankfully the herbal soup was tasteful but alas... the meat was very hard to my liking. It was not tender but hard. By the time I've finished chewing it, I mean eating it, I've decided to stick to the ones in Subang Jaya which suited my taste bud more.

Total bill was RM27 which is the average BKT price in PJ. It's unfortunate that it didn't suit my palate as it's convenient, in the bustling section 14 area. Also it's in an air-conditioned shop which is great for the humid weather lately.

My rating: 2/5
Location: 8A, Jalan 14/20, Petaling Jaya (next to Baker's Cottage)
Type: Non-halal
