MPOV: Where There's Smoke

My rating: 3/5
Goodreads rating: 3.95/5

First published: 1993
Author: Sandra Brown
Genre: fiction, romance

When she returns home to start a new medical practice, Lara finds she can't escape her troubled past. to open up her medical practice after all these years. Soon she finds herself in the sights of a powerful oil executive who wants nothing more than to be rid of Lara. Lara decides to find the truth behind the corruption and secrets in town- even if it could cost her everything.

The above taken from Goodreads.

A book I find quite slow at the start, with some expected bantering and bickering which made it interesting and finally ended with a different kind of smoke. Unexpected to say the least but then that's what makes this book enthralling in the end.

The initial love/hate relationship between Lara and Key was the instrument that deviates the story from it's main plot. Hence, when it finally reached the coming together/making up point, I thought all was well until the unexpected twist at the end... one thing leads to another quickly... tumbling towards the end and the curtain falls. Hmmm... overall an OK book to read lah.

New words:
Bedouin - a nomadic Arab of the desert
Irascible - having or showing a tendency to be easily angered

*** SPOILER ALERT***

Can't help but sharing this spoiler... jeng... jeng... jeng...
