Eyeglasses Frames Online from GlassesShop

I have been wearing reading glasses for more than 7 years now. All thanks to my 'hazardous hobbies' which require me to squint, strain and stare LOL! It is true leh... according to my optometrist... I've been reading a lot plus I crochet and cross-stitch, not forgetting the computer, tab and mobile phone... hence causing my Hyperopia to come a calling early.
Definition of Hyperopia: a condition in which visual images come to a focus behind the retina of the eye and vision is better for distant than for near objects - called also farsightedness
Definition above taken from http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/hyperopia
My current eyeglasses which I've worn for the past 3 years!
Recently, I had the opportunity to explore a different avenue in getting my new pair of prescription glasses. I would think it's a road less travelled, in this case, a less favourable option which is to purchase glasses frames online. Amidst all the online fears, it was actually an easy and convenient way to purchase with less hassle and traffic jams! Especially in the comfort of my own home...

Thanks to GlassesShop, I now have the opportunity to explore and get a new pair of eyeglasses online! There were so many designs to choose from with different materials and colours ranging from cheap glasses to premium ones and even prescription sunglasses! Also there were specifics and descriptions, all in detailed and easy to understand format, which honestly made it easy for me to pick and choose. I can also clicked on 'Tryon' to view it on a 'wearer' in 2D. All easy peasy with the clicking of a mouse!

So below were my shortlists:

Which one do you think I've gotten in the end?

Next, unboxing my new pair of eyeglasses!

For those who are interested to get a pair, you can utilise the special coupon code below and get 50% off!!! You can have 50% off on any eyeglasses and sunglasses with free lenses; except for frames which are on sale ya...

[MPOV] SkinSoul Natural Volume Attack Mascara

When it comes to makeup, I'm the lazy kind. I always wonder how my girlfriends can look coiffed with perfect makeup every single day! The hassle of applying layer after layer of foundation, blending eyeshadow to deepen the double eyelids, gluing fake eyelashes followed by mascara... the list is endless just to look perfect! Well, I guess women will do just anything to look perfect! Even if it means going under the knife which is the latest craze among the rich and famous now! Eew!

Not for me though. Firstly, I'm not rich. Secondly, why the need to pay for the self inflicted and unnecessary pain? You may call me a coward but I've been brought up believing in natural and organic beauty hence the lack of use of makeup, preferably without the chemicals or any incisions too. If I do makeup, it's usually light and nothing heavy. Mind you, I don't intend to look like a panda!

Anyway, I have droopy eyes so this is something which always bugs me. I do know that a couple of fake eyelashes will brighten ones eyes but the glue, trim and curl process is a little too much for me. Not only that, it is uncomfortable and a hassle to remove it. I've also heard of  the 'eyelash planting' technique which I'm not fond of as it causes irritation to some, especially since I have sensitive skin so this is something I must avoid.

Recently, I had the opportunity to try SkinSoul Natural Volume Attack Mascara and the result is surprisingly good. Initially, I had my doubts as I have never thought a mascara could do wonders like promoting the growth of eyelashes. Well, after trying it out, I'm speechless. Below are some photos of before and after which I've taken, noticed the difference?
Day 1: Before applying
Day 1: After applying
Apologies for the poor quality photos, didn't realized until I've uploaded it today. But you can still view the difference :-) Also ignore my freckles ya...
Day 14: After applying
After 14 days of applying this wonderful mascara, my lashes have thicken, lengthen and strengthen. Yes, it did and I couldn't believe it! Yay to au naturel! No incisions! No injections!
My wonder mascara LOL!
SkinSoul Natural Volume Attack Mascara is:
  • 100% Paraben and prostaglandin free
  • ZERO use of hair growth chemicals that can cause blurred vision
  • Organic, natural mulberry extract that nourishes, strengthens and curls lashes
  • Visibly grows and thickens lashes in 8 weeks
  • Voluminous coating that lengthens, curls and defines lashes from tip to top
The key ingredient here is the mulberry root extract. Taken from their pamphlet, it is a natural ingredient derived from the mulberry root bark. It has been used for centuries in traditional medicine for its ability to promote metabolism and stimulate hair growth due to it's high level of Vitamin C and antioxidant properties. That is why my eyelashes look so healthy! Au naturel is the best!

Another plus point is the packaging, slim and classy with easy to apply brush. No clumps, very smooth and so far, no irritation. Of course, it is still a cosmetic so you should remove it with a makeup remover at the end of the day. I wonder if the other skincare products they have could rid me of my freckles naturally *wishful thinking*
Retail at RM206.70 for 8ML

[MPOV] A Worthy Book!

I was planning to treat myself recently at 1 of my favourite restaurant but I was tight on budget. Well, ain't we all :-p Anyway, I was waiting for hub's so might as well fill my tummy up.

Thankfully Worthy Book saved my day! I had the torn out voucher in my handbag and I just present it to the waiter upon ordering my yummylicious The Wolf's Favourite *drooling* It's that simple and hassle free!
Easy peasy and I get a FREE Lemonade for using this voucher!
Well, the lazy me actually went through the whole book and tear out the relevant vouchers which attracted me then keep it in my handbag. I don't even need to carry the whole book, just the torn out vouchers... light and easy *no sweat*
The Worthy Book FNB Edition of 180 vouchers!
Haven't heard of Worthy Book? Yeah, me too until I got hold of it recently. Lo and behold, it was truly a book worth getting!

When I chance upon it, I thought it could be a picture book filled with food LOL! Well, actually, it is a book filled with 180 vouchers redeemable at many major restaurants like Sushi Tei, Three Little Pigs & The Big Bad Wolf,  myBurger Lab, Sushi King, Brotzeit and many more! I was so excited as it's instant deals all year long! Yes, according to the book, validity is for a year. Mine was from 1st September 2014 to 31st August 2015 which is expiring soon so need to use it more often so that it is worth my while *fingers crossed*

There are many ways to get hold of this book, either online from their website or from book stores such as MPH, times, myNews, Kinokuniya, Popular and Borders. Priced at RM 29.90, true to it's name, it is a worthy book to get. Can't wait to get my hands on the new edition once it is out!

P/S: I just found out there is a Worthy Book Ladies Edition too! 160 discount vouchers for shopping, beauty, fashion, health and wellness! Darn! *hands itchy*

[MPOV] Chulo Spanish Restaurant & Tapas Bar

I was very excited to redeem my very first Taste Voucher courtesy of JoinMe, a Malaysian food review site where foodies eat and share reviews here. If you love reviewing food, you can join the community and get a chance to redeem their Taste Vouchers. Taste Voucher is a voucher for complimentary meal given by a restaurant owner. It is an exclusive reward for JoinMe top reviews contributors. Chulo Spanish Restaurant & Tapas Bar was one on the list and their '8 choose 1' signature dishes allowed for redemption looked appetizing thus prompting me to redeem it.

Hubby decided at the very last minute to utilize it one rainy night since we couldn't decide what to eat for dinner. Thankfully reservation was aye okay as it was not crowded due to the wet spell. Upon reaching, we had a hard time looking for this place. Well, we are not familiar with Jaya One and it was raining cats and dogs thus hampering our search for the restaurant. Finally, after 15 mins or so, we found it!

It was quite empty, true to the reception's words, and quite dark. We were quickly ushered to an empty table on the balcony as Hubby wanted smoking area. The funny thing was I can't remember what the signature dishes were so I asked the waiter. Waiter said it was anything from the pasta section... erm... I knew it wasn't right but I was too famished to question. We did have a hard time going through the menu as it was kinda dark to read with small yellowish writings on black colour layout with a dark ambiance =.=

I finally settled on Aglio Olio spaghetti with grilled Salmon for the Taste Voucher redemption and a glass of Ginger Ale:

Hubby chose Lamb Chop and a glass of Green Tea:

Do excuse our dark photos as the ambiance was totally dark, thus using flash was not doing the food any justice. Anyhow, it was romantic with the cool, breezy night and rain trickling down endlessly *blissful sigh*. Erm... back to the food, the one thing I wasn't happy... it was cold. Yes, the dishes were cold and not piping hot. Overall, it was standard Western dishes, nothing out of the ordinary. Nothing memorable to foot the night except for the portion which was big, tummy filled to the brim but that's it. Also my spaghetti had a distinct burnt garlic taste which was not to my liking.

Total bill was RM46.15 including 6% government tax and 10% service charge, minus my Taste Voucher redemption. Pricing reasonable for a Western dinner though. Sad to say, once I realized I wasn't having a signature dish, it kinda killed the fun for me after that.

[MPOV] JoinMe -> Brave

Thanks to JoinMe - Food Review Malaysia, a cool new food review website, I've got 2 free GSC movie tickets!!! It was a blessing as I have not gotten any freebies in awhile now *sweat* Hubby decided we should watch something new hence decided on Brave since it's the newest of the lot then!

Movie started with Merida's day out with her parents in the woods. Her father, King Fergus, gave her a bow for her birthday to which her mother, Queen Elinor, disapproved as she is a princess. While retrieving her arrows in the woods, Merida lost her way but encountered some wisps which helped her back to her parents. However, a giant bear has followed her and attacked the family causing Fergus to lose his left leg while fighting the giant bear! Many years later, Merida has grown up with identical triplet brothers. One night, her mother told her about her betrothal to which she fully opposed. But she dutifully obliged until she found the loophole... the first-born of each clan is eligible to compete for her hand in marriage. All hell breaks loose during the competition when she actually competed for her own hand!

Honestly, a wonderful movie to watch, with funny yet scary story line although it's predictable at some point. I was laughing my ass off at some of the hilarious moments when I realized I was one of the only few who did *awkward* I guess most people watched without really listening to the conversation/ story. They were more into the graphics/ movements. Anyway, a worthy movie to watch, with many hidden messages of chivalry and not forgetting some cool moves.

SlimKicker

I was recently invited to try this cool diet/ fitness app but didn't have the time until today, since it is a Public Holiday, thanks to the new Agong ^.^

I've never been serious about diet or fitness thus I was definitely clueless about this. Looking at the dashboard after signing up, I honestly didn't know what I should do. Luckily this app is really user friendly with many help/ guide throughout my surfing so it is totally cool.
http://slimkicker.com/
SlimKicker is a health app where you can either diet or stay fit healthily through motivation. Motivation meaning living healthy with winnable games and small victories like a RPG game. Cool right?!

Every time you eat something healthy like vegetables, you earn some points. Each time you complete a workout, you earn some points. Each level will have different challenges for you to achieve and these challenges will help you 'level up' once you achieve it. The whole idea is to create a holistic game so that you will rely less on willpower but more on fun and achievements aka motivation. Usually, you will tend to be more lazy through willpower and you could end up not doing it anymore. Game wise, you will be more addictive, more prone to continue and achieving the challenges set.
SlimKicker's goals
It is currently available via the web and iPhone app store. I'm currently waiting for the Android version so that I can continue using it seamlessly. My only thought was to add a 'calories calculator' since not every food we take has the measurement available. Sorry if this sounds stupid as I'm totally clueless about all this! Btw, this is my goal:

Quick, try it out now!

http://slimkicker.com/

Christine, thanks for introducing me to this cool app of yours!

One of the reasons I started blogging was to capture all the important moments in my life. Mind you, I am a forgetful person hence the more important to keep all my memories intact! I started blogging late so the past 35 years of my life sort of disappeared, lost in translation, etc… sigh!

Fortunately, I have been introduced to this product recently. It sort of saved the essence of my life! Cooking Class: Herb Crusted Sea Bass with Garden Stew

Previously on Cooking Class, you can read my first experience here, the first recipe here and second recipe here.

This is the last post featuring the last recipe, Herb Crusted Sea Bass with Garden Stew (or ratatouille).

What is ratatouille? From http://www.suite101.com/content/ratatouille-recipe-a25085

Ratatouille (literally stirred chunky stew in French) is a great year-round dish. During the summer months, when fresh vegetables are abundant, it makes for a light, easy dinner. In the winter months, it can be transformed into classic comfort fare. Think of it as more "French concept" than "stew" - and let your imagination run wild. Ratatouille responds well to interpretation and experimentation.

Back to the class, sea bass fillets had been marinated with salt and pepper and kept in the chiller prior to this, to save time. We were told to mix the ingredients below for herb crust.

IMG_0238

No utensils, no fancy machines, just with our bare hands! Not for the squirmiest type :p

IMG_0247

Bread crumb, butter, lemon zest, fresh thyme, fresh oregano, garlic, black pepper and salt properly mixed. Set aside and continue with the garden stew.

IMG_0249

Cut yellow zucchini, yellow onion, green capsicum, red capsicum, brinjal and tomato into small cubes. Here onwards, photos will be sparse as Hubby was feeling tired already :-)

Place a little oil in the sauce pan, once heated, add in cubed onions. Stir-fry until fragrant. Add in tomato paste and puree, stir well until redish. Add all the cut vegetables to saute and stir well. Add in some stock, let it simmer and cook until tender. Lastly, season with salt, sugar and black pepper to taste. Set aside while we worked on the sea bass and herb crust.

IMG_0252

Place the fillets on a plate. Grab a handful of herb crust, padatkan and place it on top of the fillets.

IMG_0253

Pre-heat the Samsung Microwave Convection Oven to 250’. Once heated, place the fillets in. Select Convection, dial 8 mins and press start. Easy peasy! If your fillet is thick, then bake for at least 15 mins. Not too long as worried the crust would be burnt off :p

IMG_0260

While waiting, we can start garnishing it by placing the garden stew first on the plate. Then place the fries on top of the stew. Oops! Forgot the fries… it’s easy… baked the whole potato then placed it in the chiller. Once ready, cut it into strips, ensure it’s dry and then deep fry it in a pot of oil. Once fried, season with a little salt. Back to the plate, after the sea bass fillets are baked, place it on top of the fries.

IMG_0263

The finished dish: Herb Crusted Sea Bass with Garden Stew… looks like fine dining, right???!!! :p

You can view the full recipe here. Yummy yummy!

Thanks to Samsung, I’m glad to have been given such a wonderful opportunity to learn cooking in a professional way. It was a pleasure using the Samsung Convection Microwave Oven… totally user-friendly at it’s best!

Thanks Cilantro, with a fully equipped kitchen and a skilled Chef Joel, teaching and guiding us. I have totally enjoyed my cooking experience here :-)

Thanks to Hubby too for all the fantastic and beautiful photos!
